International Mountain Equipment

2733 White Mountain Highway

International Mountain Equipment was founded in 1974 by Frank Simon, Bill Aughton and Paul Ross. In August 1979 Rick purchased I.M.E. from its founders. Since that time I.M.E. has become a legend, and the number one outdoor shop for serious hikers, climbers and skiers in Northern New England. Rick's passion for climbing and his love for big mountains has led him all corners of the globe, including leading his team on the successful 1991 climb of Mount Everest, the first New Englanders to do so. He has led or participated in 38 expeditions world wide with 19 expeditions to the Himalayas.

Fun store to wonder or grab those few last minute items before heading out into the hills. Lots of new and used gear available. Used gear sales tends to still seem a bit pricey, but they usually have a decent selection. Guide service and climbing school upstairs is top notch!!

Great place to pick up any of your climbing needs and more. Very friendly staff and owners. They take consignments and have a lot of unique items from Nepal.

IME is a rare species. It's one of the few dedicated climbing/mountaineering shops in the region. They have new and used equipment. Used gear is great when you don't want to drop full price on an 8000-meter bodysuit that you might use once. IME offers guiding services and stocks hard to find books and guides, including many written by local authors.

Excellent shop, experienced staff for mountaineering and outdoor adventures. Best outdoor consignment so that all people can enjoy the outdoors without buying new. Recommend stopping in or phoning for advice for any hike or adventure-the staff will make sure you are well prepared. IME is an excellent resource.
